Accountant (Inventory, Cost Accounting, General Accounting)

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Principal Job Responsibilities

Accountant will report to the Inventory/Sales Support Manager and may also provide general accounting support for financial accounting areas, with an immediate focus on inventory setup and analysis. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Support efficient and accurate inventory accounting process, including:

  • Establish inventory in Company ERP system to properly account for quantity, costing and revenue recognition. Establish/maintain coding system for new inventory to work for appropriate sales channels
  • Establish and maintain inventory unit costs
  • Review and analyze sales, cost of sales and margins of all inventory sold
  • Reconcile payment of inventory purchase orders with receipt of physical inventory
  • Work in coordination with various locations to maintain accurate physical inventory counts. Investigating material variances.
  • Provide inventory transfers for various locations including expo, concept store, Canada and international locations
  • Confirm receipt of inventory in the approval of shipping invoices
  • Coordinate with payables on the proper payment of apparel and accessories
  • Assist in reconciliation of inventory balances for proper statement in the general ledger and supporting detail ledgers.
  • Maintain schedule of tooling and amortization

Provides support for all other general accounting functions and sales support functions as necessary.

Education/Experience:

Minimum of 3 years of combined accounting experience/accounting education required. Accounting degree a plus.

This position will work directly for Newton’s independent distributor in Mexico.  He/she would not be an employee of Newton Running Company, Inc.   The Sales Representative will be responsible for ambitious sales goals in Mexico. He/she will develop and cultivate relationships with retailers and manage the business development in support of the distributor’s strategic plan. Our distributor is looking for a leader with deep experience creating exceptional service and driving sales. Principal Job Responsibilities

The Sales Representative will be responsible for the following:

    1. Sales and Customer Service
      • Aggressively identify, prioritize and manage customer relationships with partners in the territory to achieve annual sell-in and sell-thru sales goals for Newton Running Company’s distributor.
      • Directly achieves business results through developing understanding of customer requirements and making recommendations for programs, solutions, customer decisions and resource allocation. Demonstrates knowledge of key influencers and ability to use them
      • Develops and executes running and educational events to benefit local retailers
      • Provides retailers and retail customers with education on running form and injury prevention
    2. Sales Operations
      • Actively participate in forecasting and inventory planning process
      • Proactively plan and manage retail partners’ business, including frequent formal business reviews, forecasting, ongoing development of merchandising plan, inventory management, developing and executing against promotions and events calendar
    3. Business and Sales Analysis
      • Reports on business plan progress
      • Evaluation against programs and initiatives - performance, spending, results vs. forecast
      • Actively leverages knowledge of competitors and customers to enhance competitiveness and ability to accelerate business growth
    4. Core Competencies / Knowledge and Skill Requirements
      • Bachelor's Degree is preferred in Sales, Marketing, Business Administration or related field
      • Minimum of 5 years of experience in sales
      • Fluent in Spanish
      • High level of business planning and presentation skills
      • Exceptional verbal and written communications skills
      • Excellent data analysis and interpretation skills
      • Advanced PC knowledge and skills
      • Must have the ability to travel extensively
      • Valid driver’s license and valid car insurance

This position is part of our European sales representative team that reports to the Director of Sales for Europe.The Sales Representative will work as an independent agent, and will be responsible for a very proactive and hands on approach to achieving ambitious sales goals in the Nordrhein Westfalen, Bremen Niedersachsen and Schleswig Holstein regions. The Sales Representative will develop and cultivate relationships with specialty run retail management and shop floor employees, implement company programs, and be responsible for achieving sales goals that align with the Company’s strategic plan.
