2011 Seoul ITU Triathlon Asian Cup

Oh Young-Hwan (pictured left) was the overall winner of the Aquathalon at the 2011 Asian Triathlon Cup Festival in Korea. ‎The Aquathalon is comprised of a 1.5 swim and 5K run. At the same race, Newton Running athlete Jina Park placed third in her age group.

Lemos Prime for Columbia Triathlon

Christopher Lemos of North Bethesda, Maryland, competed in Pikes Peak 10k on April 17 on a brisk and windy day. He had decided to enter the race only the day before as a speedwork session. He placed 10th in his division out of 185 with a time of 34:59, and was 50th male overall against a very competitive field.

Lemos is gearing up for this Sunday’s hilly Columbia Triathlon in Ellicott, Maryland on May 22. “The race includes a 1.5 K swim, 41 K bike and 10K run. I’m starting to taper now and am hopeful for a solid race,” says Lemos.

Block Burns Through Encinitas 5K

This weekend was California’s annual Encinitas Sprint Triathlon Festival, which includes a 5K, a triathlon and duathlon. Andrew Block (pictured here) took a fine second place in the men 40 to 44 age group and was 23rd overall in the 5K.

“Above all I was thrilled to set a PR of 17:23   in my tried, true and trusted Newton Running Distance Light Weight Trainers!” says Block.

Lucy Loves Her Newtons

Lucy Ryan (pictured here in here in her favorite women’s Distancia in pink) won the fourth annual Family Education and Support Center River Run 10K on April 23, 2011, in Maple Ridge, British Columbia, Canada. Her time was 50:04.

“At least once after a race someone asks me
about my Newton shoes and the first thing they say is: ‘I heard you have to get used to them.’ I’m quick to respond that in my case, I didn’t need to get used to them at all, even though I was a heel striker when I began using them.”
