When it comes to designing running shoes, Newton Running is the first to design running shoes that mimic your natural barefoot running form. With this in mind, not only are we introducing a new line of running shoes, we also strive to be an information center for better running form, injury prevention and training. Newton Running’s mission is to be the leader in running shoe technology while creating a culture with a focus on manufacturing environmentally friendly products, social responsibility, superior customer service and creating an environment where every employee, customer and vendor are valued and respected.
Jerry Lee
Newton Running Co-Founder, CEO
An avid marathoner, Jerry received his college degree from Bradley University and is a Certified Public Accountant. He has been in the real estate development business in Boulder, Co. for over twenty-five years and is married with two children.
Jerry's passion outside of his family and real estate is running. So much so that when he discovered the shoe Danny Abshire was working on he wanted to do whatever he could to help. Jerry's persistent financial and personal support was influential in making Newton Running a reality after 10 years of development.
Danny Abshire
Newton Running Co-Founder, Chief Technical Officer
As a runner, Danny has covered all distance runs from track to 100 mile runs and multi day runs. He co-founded Active Imprints Custom Insoles and Running Store in Boulder, Colorado in 1988 and has hand crafted thousands of custom foot supports for all sports.
Working closely with elite runners, cyclist and triathletes, Abshire developed unique, lightweight custom orthotics which have benefited Olympic marathon runners, 10 Iron Man World Champions and Olympic and Tour De France cyclists. "My success has been helping athletes achieve their dreams and goals by getting them there with more speed and comfort and a little less pain," says Abshire.
Danny has been the Director of Biomechanics and Injury Prevention and a running form coach for Multisports.com since 1993. He is also a consultant with the Lydiard Foundation and received his Pedorthic training from Northwestern University.
Danny not only is an avid runner but also enjoys art, camping and spending time with his wife and two sons.
Stephen Gartside
Newton Running President
Stephen Gartside joined Newton Running as President in March of 2009. Stephen has 20+ years of experience in sales, marketing, as well as building businesses. Prior to joining Newton Running, Stephen served as Chairman of Evolving Systems, and prior to that as President and CEO of Evolving Systems. Evolving Systems is publicly traded software company focused on providing provisioning solutions to the world’s largest wireless carriers. Stephen was also one of the early employees at Terabeam, serving as SVP Corporate Development where he helped write the company’s business plan, and raise over $500M to launch the company. During his career, Stephen has served as Region Director of Sales for Stratus Computers, and Area VP of Sales for NCR and AT&T GIS.
Stephen is a passionate life long endurance athlete, completing his first marathon at age 15, and is still running hard today with a 2:53 as a Masters runner at the 2008 Rock and Roll San Antonio Marathon. Stephen has also completed an Ironman and enjoys some ultra running. Stephen is married with two high school age girls and resides in Colorado after living in various locations around the US and abroad growing up and during his career in the high tech industry. Stephen has a BBA in Marketing from the University at Texas in Austin.
