THE PEOPLE BEHIND THE SHOES
Determined to create a new innovation in running shoes and to advance the barefoot running technique, a small group of elite Boulder, Colorado based runners founded Newton Running. The idea was to create a running shoe company by runners and coaches, for runners. A company that would listen to the concerns of athletes and strive to not only make better shoes but to make better runners as well.
JERRY LEE

An avid marathoner, Jerry received his college degree from Bradley University and is a Certified Public Accountant. He has been in the real estate development business in Boulder, Co. for over twenty-five years and is married with two children.
Jerry's passion outside of his family and real estate is running. So much so that when he discovered the shoe Danny Abshire was working on he wanted to do whatever he could to help. Jerry's persistent financial and personal support was influential in making Newton Running a reality after 10 years of development.
DANNY ABSHIRE

As a runner, Danny has covered all distance runs from track to 100 mile runs and multi day runs.
Danny co-founded Active Imprints Custom Insoles and Running Store in Boulder, Colorado in 1988 and has hand crafted thousands of custom foot supports for all sports.
Working closely with elite runners, cyclist and triathletes, Abshire developed unique, lightweight custom orthotics which have benefited Olympic marathon runners, 10 Iron Man World Champions and Olympic and Tour De France cyclists. "My success has been helping athletes achieve their dreams and goals by getting them there with more speed and comfort and a little less pain," says Abshire.
Danny has been the Director of Biomechanics and Injury Prevention and a running form coach for Multisports.com since 1993. He is also a consultant with the Lydiard Foundation and received his Pedorthic training from Northwestern University.
His many hobbies include: inventing, footwear developing and designing, and art. Danny has been married to Jennifer, also an avid runner, for 20 years, and has two sons, Cody and Dylan.
BRIAN RUSSELL
Director of Advanced Technology Research and Development
Newton Running would like to acknowledge inventor Brian Russell for his countless hours of hard work. Brian's continual effort to improve, expand and protect the technology has led to 7 U.S. patents with other U.S. and foreign patents pending. New product innovations are currently in the works and Newton will continue to show technology advancements through this body of work.
An avid runner and sprinter, his relentless desire to invent a new running shoe technology that would allow for better neuromuscular feedback to the body stemmed from his barefoot running experience and research. He logically segmented the shoe to work with ground engaging parts of the feet, the heel, ball of the foot and toes. Concentrating directly under these regions he developed firm chambers covered with an elastic membrane and actuators that touched the ground surface. This also mimicked the human foot further with actuators underlying bones and the membrane reacting like muscle and connective tissue.
