Love the shoes, hate the new tongue!
At age 72 running 26 mile marathons, I can only wear Newtons. But this new tongue really hurt--my old sensitive skin! PLEASE, in new styles go back to the soft, padded tongue. I had to return them for an older style.

Love my Newton BUT the tongue has to GO!
Love my Newton as always! Wide toe box, new colors, 5 lugs but the thinner tongue is a disappointment when there's no padding & it slides side to side.

Same great Distance, very poor tongue design
The Distance IV is still a great shoe, but the tongue on this update is a poor design. The tongue has cut into the top of my foot causing irritation and bleeding, and the shoe feels like it moves off- center after a few miles, because the tongue is not effective in centering the foot inside of the shoe. Shoe feels okay, but doesn't seem as smooth, or fast as previous models because of the tongue. I have also had two lace holes around the tongue break.

Newton's never fail!
This is my 3rd pair of Newton Distance shoes and I absolutely love the new model. They have the classic 4 lug component and they fit like a dream; very similar to the previous models, but with a slightly different look. One difference I have noticed throughout the years is the material at the bottom of the shoe that meets the ground is not nearly as wide, which is a plus, because I never felt the extra material was necessary. I don't find myself clipping my ankles as I'm pounding down the road and they look more sleek without the bulk. I am still trying to find the perfect lacing system, as my feet slide a tad, so my ankles have been sore after long runs (14+ miles), but hopefully I will be able to find the perfect fit soon. I definitely foresee many "runs" being "happy" in these shoes.

Love them!
Great shoes for all distance running. They are light weight and responsive. I can see how some people have a problem with the tongue as it is very thin. For me, I don't tie the laces too tight, and I don't have any problem with the shoes staying on or the laces digging into the tops of my feet. The performance of the shoes are awesome. Also, the bright neon color is really eye catching and stands out. I've gotten many compliments.

My favourite shoes, I can't wait to wear them on my long runs and on uphill sessions. Very lightweight shoe ,but yet landing feels very smooth. After many years of running and getting injured, I found pair of shoes that helps me run with the correct technique ,that is forefoot. The five lugs help so that you make use of your toe as efficiently as possible. Thanks Newton ,you have made me love running!

Love the new style EXCEPT for tongue
I love everything about the new Distance IVs except for the tongue. Like every other reviewer, this new tongue style is awful. I tend to wear thicker socks and I even have the tongue rubbing my ankle. It also does not stay put. Please bring back the tongue from the IIIs!!!! Besides that, these shoes are comfy and add a bounce to my step. They are comfortable and lightweight. My previous running shoes were the gravity IIIs and the Distance S IIIs. I also run trails in the Boco ATs.

love my NEWTONS
This is my 4th pair of Newtons. First Distance IV. The tongue keeps slipping, perhaps two cross area (as my older style of Momentums) would work best. This also is happening with my husbands Distance IV.... must be in the design. Other than that, amazingly light and comfortable with the 02 mm heel :-) (we are 65,67) and love running!
