What Makes Newton Unique?

Level Platform

Over time, many shoe designs have become thicker, softer and heavier with greater heel heights. In the spirit of making every stride better, Newton shoes feature lower heel to toe drops to put you in a more natural running position.

Action/Reaction Technology

The secret formula powering the speed of Newton Running shoes is its proprietary Action/Reaction Technology. Generated by the active movement of the lugs, it creates a responsive, trampoline-like cushioning system that provides quicker bounce-back and loses less energy than a traditional foam-core running shoe.

Full Foot Cushioning

If you love the responsive yet cushioned feel of the lugs in the forefoot, you'll be happy to find out the same technology exists in the heel. With Newton Running, you get full-foot cushioning and protection.

My second pair

These shoes have lasted a little over two years. I use them for walking on and off trail. They are very well made and comfortable -not too plush- and I like the fact that they have only a slight drop. I can feel my leg has to engage more with each step than it does with shoes that have larger drops. . I also like that the cushioning is stiff and not too squishy. I am tall 6’6” and have a size 15 foot. Many other brands’ midsoles break down easily, but this has not happened with the Newton. One criticism I have is the insoles are very flimsy, provide no support and are basically useless. I felt almost no arch support, so after awhile I purchased an insole which gave me some support where I needed it. I just bought my second pair and bought an insole to go with it. It’s unfortunate that you have to add another $50 to the cost of the shoe, but since they last so long I figure it’s worth it. I’m excited to see how the new water repellent model works. I live in the Pacific Northwest and was happy to see this feature was added because my feet definitely got wet with the old model.

Grippy, No Slippy

Perfect traction for muddy trails — up hill and down. Adequate protection from the occasional stepped upon rock. Indispensable shoes for this off road forefoot runner.

Snowpack

Took the Boco AT5 out on some sloppy snowpack and couldn’t have asked for better traction. Great grip up and down the trail.

great shoes!

I have been wearing the Gravity shoes for a while and really like them, so was curious to try the BOCOs both for trail running and for upper midwest winters. The grip on the bottom of these is great. They take a little getting used to as they're much stiffer than a traditional running shoe, but now they're very comfortable and second nature. For me, they work as a heavier weight trainer that I can still put some good miles in, even in the city. I'd definitely recommend!
