Distance 13 Features

Enhanced Cushion
The new Newtonium-T midsole is a next generation TPEE compound formulated to deliver far superior impact absorption and rebound compared to other foams and makes the incredibly responsive ride even more fun than ever.

Elevated Comfort
Designed to maximize comfort and security, the gender tuned upper ensures an optimal fit and is extraordinarily breathable to make sure every stride is your best.

Evolved Performance
Newton’s technological edge lies in our proprietary Action-Reaction Technology™. Generated by the active movement of the lugs in & out of the midsole it creates a trampoline-like cushioning system that provides a quicker bounce back with less energy loss than other running shoes.
What Our Runners Think
While there hasn't been a generation of Newton Distance shoes that I haven't enjoyed and been successful in, the 13s have been exceptional in relation to my performance in both training and competition. I order multiple pairs and use them all. In this case, the Distance 13 have carried me to a win in the Moccasin 24-hour event in Tennessee in December of 2024. While there, I ran 108 miles throughout the day and night. They allowed me to PR the 100-mile distance, while finishing third at the Prairie Spirit Trail 100 in Kansas in March of 2025. Most recently, they helped me secure the win at the Sugar Badger 50 in Wisconsin in May of 2025.
More important than all of this, however, is the ease in which I am able to train between races and keep my feet and legs healthy. That is where my Newton Distance pay off the most. They are perfect for how I move and impact the ground and interact with my running environment. I am able to train well, in part, because Newton Distance are the shoe I need in order to run healthy and happy all year long regardless of where I am in relation to training, competition, or simply running for fun.
i've L4 L5 bulging discs since 1989 which have been not only painful but doctors have told me to stop running. further, i've only cement and asphalt to run on. eventually this led me to zero drop running to reduce the heel strike impact. i used Newton shoes way back when to adjust my legs, especially achilles and calves, to mid/front foot impact. only Newton could keep me injury free during this process. however, i was overoptimistic about further transitioning to minimal shoes, i.e. those with very thin soles. however as much as i tried, the impact on hard surfaces were too much, even with great form. i gave it 6months, and the pain took 3days to heal enough for another run. so i decided to put my old Newton Distance on, and within a few runs the pain reduced dramatically. the retractable lugs truly reduce impact, and the near zero drop lets me come down on my forefoot, so i can be as minimal and impact reducing as possible on hard surfaces. in addition i put a several millimeter half-insole in the front to make the shoe a true zero drop shoe for me (since the Distance has a 2mm drop). this is the best show out there for my situation, and likely for many others who want reduced impact but need more than a very thin minimal sole because they run on hard surfaces. there's no shoe i'd recommend more for such running, and hope Newton never stops making them.
My son has been running in Newton shoes for over 2 years. He loves them! He has noticed a huge improvement in his running form, therefore affecting his speed in a positive way. Great shoes!
The Newton Distance 13 felt lightweight, responsive, and stable. The forefoot lugs gave me great energy return, and the fit was comfortable, especially for tempo runs. It’s a solid choice for runners who want a fast, efficient shoe with a touch of support. As an avid runner always on the lookout for performance-enhancing gear, I recently tried The Newton Men's Distance S 13, and it’s safe to say this shoe made a strong impression.
Perfect for my running stride!
